Get To Know Your Provider
Dr. Khurram Tariq is a hematology-oncology provider with Intermountain Health’s telehealth oncology team, focusing on benign and malignant hematology and medical oncology. Driven by a passion for innovation and leadership, Dr. Tariq has advanced hematology programs and helped establish Boone, North Carolina’s first Islamic Center. His approach to care reflects the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” as he believes that a strong, supportive community is essential to meeting the complex needs of cancer patients. Dr. Tariq treats his patients like family and cherishes his close relationships with many former patients.
Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Tariq grew up in Cary, North Carolina. During college, he founded MOSAIC, a student organization, and received the University of North Carolina’s Chancellor’s Award in 2007. He was also the first Muslim student awarded the Francis Philip Travel Scholarship, allowing him to travel the world and create a documentary about an ancient tribe in the Himalayan mountains.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Tariq loves traveling, fishing, hunting, and raising honeybees near his home in North Carolina. He’s also interested in Native American cultures and tribal artifacts. He enjoys spending time with his daughters and wife and is actively involved with local faith-based groups.
