Weekly Updates

Initial Outage 11.7.22

Uintah Basin Healthcare (UBH) became aware of a potential threat to our network, which affected our phone system and network connectivity. At this time, we have no reason to believe that our data systems were at risk.

We worked diligently with partners and experts to secure and restore our systems.

We remained operational during our downtime procedures and continued to provide safe, quality care.

Week Two Update 11.16.22

UBH managed a threat to our network, which impacted multiple areas of our operations. As a precautionary step, we initially took certain systems offline and worked to minimize the disruption. We take our responsibility to ensure security and safety very seriously. As a result of this issue, we did reschedule some patient services the week of November 7, 2022.

UBH worked on restoring those systems that were taken offline. While we worked to regain full operations, we continued to investigate this issue and followed existing protocols for system outages. We are grateful to our staff and physicians, who did everything possible to minimize the impact on our patients. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

What we did.

Upon discovering the potential threat, UBH quickly mobilized to protect our systems, contain the incident, begin an investigation, and maintain continuity of care. We have followed existing protocols, which included taking certain systems temporarily offline. We remained operational, utilizing downtime procedures. We realize that certain service interruptions caused pain points in some areas. Providing safe, quality care to our patients remained our utmost priority. We worked diligently around the clock to bring systems online and restore full functionality as quickly and safely as possible.

What we're doing.

To further assist and support our team in the investigation and response process, we engaged leading cybersecurity specialists and have followed their guidance to keep our system secure.

Are you operational?

Systems are restored and we’re fully operational.

Is my information at risk?

We recognize that our staff and patients may have questions about their data, and we continue to conduct a thorough forensics investigation and review of our systems – which, in part, seeks to determine if any data was impacted. This will remain a top priority. If it is determined that personal or protected health information was impacted during the incident, we will ensure all individuals are appropriately notified.

How can we contact UBH?
