WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

The Hospital strives to provide a safe workplace for all employees. Any type of workplace violence committed by an employee will result in discipline, up to and including termination. The following list of behaviors, while not inclusive, provides examples of inappropriate behavior:

• Physically injuring another;

• Making threatening remarks or engaging in threatening behavior;

• Aggressive or hostile behavior, particularly where it subjects another employee non-employed staff or UBMC visitor or patron to emotional distress; and

• Damaging UBMC property.

Any inappropriate or potentially dangerous behavior or situations, whether involving co-employees, non-employees or patients should be reported immediately to either your supervisor, human resources, security or any member of management.

Non-employed staff members who are confronted with an armed or dangerous person should not seek to subdue the person but to secure their own safety, and to report the situation as soon as possible.
