Page Salenger, MD

Get To Know Your Provider

Page Salenger is originally from the mountains outside New York City. She attended university in Cleveland, Ohio and Jerusalem, Israel. Her medical training in internal medicine and nephrology took place in upstate New York and a short year in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked primarily in private practice in nephrology, and developed an interest in home dialysis, including peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis. This interest led her to a position in Tennessee for several years, managing a national dialysis company’s home dialysis programs.

However, Dr. Salenger returned to patient care about five years ago, as she missed the dynamic of the patient-physician relationship. She endeavors to approach patients and their families not as a “case study” but rather from a more humanistic angle. This involves learning about not only the patient’s physical symptoms and illnesses, but also considering their spiritual, emotional and family needs. There are many misconceptions regarding kidney disease, so education of the patient is important. Dr. Salenger also encourages her patients to become more engaged in their own care; this goes hand in hand with encouraging patients who need dialysis to consider home treatment modalities.

Outside of work, Page enjoys ice hockey (both playing and refereeing), bowling, and playing piano. Her older daughter, who works in hi-tech in Israel, is moving back to Utah to start a family. She is excited to be a grandmother. Page also has another daughter who is studying in Rochester, NY, and hopes to attend medical school in the near future.

Page Salenger is looking forward to working with the dialysis team at UBH and welcoming patients with kidney disease into her practice.
