Jim Marshall has been the President & CEO of Uintah Basin Healthcare (UBH) since August of 2014.
Prior to his time at UBH, Jim was the President of CHI Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND and formerly the CEO of Sakakawea Medical Center in Hazen, ND.
Jim is a Board-Certified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, FACHE, earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the Frost School of Business at Centenary College of Louisiana.
When asked what he is most passionate about at UBH, he responded, “I want to change the perception of what is perceived as possible in rural healthcare and to leave a lasting impact in the Uintah Basin. As a not-for-profit organization, UBH’s Mission, Vision, and Values, together with a local Board of Directors, provide us with the purpose and the flexibility to be creative in how we care for and invest in our communities.
Jim and his wife, Jessica, have three sons, Preston, Nathan, and Owen. Jim enjoys spending time with family and friends, aviation, woodworking, fly fishing, hiking, and snowboarding.

Greg Gardiner is the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at Uintah Basin Healthcare. He received his Bachelor’s in Nursing and Master’s of Business Administration from Southern Utah University. Greg has over 22 years of nursing experience with over 18 years in a Leadership role. Greg’s wide experience of clinical knowledge has contributed to organizational growth with a specific focus on improving quality of care and patient safety.
Greg’s passion is using his experience and ability to enhance and build medical services in the basin to serve community members and prevent them from having to travel long distances for needed care. Having clinical and business knowledge, he is able to be mindful of the cost of healthcare and truly focus on clinical process improvement that will enhance the quality and safety of patient care.
Greg loves to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle. He enjoys all sports, but being able to coach his boys in basketball at the high school level has been a memorable highlight in his life. After living away from the Uintah Basin for a number of years, he and his wife never want to leave again. This is Home! Greg and his wife Becky are the parents of 3 very busy, but wonderful children.

Aurora Ronning, MHA, FACHE, is serving as our new Chief Physician Services Officer, beginning August 2026.
Aurora brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience in physician services, medical group operations, and strategic growth. Most recently, she served as Senior Market Director of Ambulatory & Medical Group Services at Willamette Valley Medical Center, where she led multi-site physician practices, recruited more than 30 providers, strengthened physician engagement, expanded service lines, and partnered with providers and community leaders to improve access to care. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and holds a Master of Healthcare Administration.
Aurora’s collaborative leadership style, commitment to physician engagement, and passion for serving rural communities make her an outstanding addition to our executive team. We are excited for the experience, vision, and leadership she will bring as we continue advancing our mission of providing exceptional care to the communities we serve.

Randall Bennett serves as Chief Human Resources Officer at Uintah Basin Healthcare. He graduated from Utah State University with a Master’s degree in Science, with an emphasis in Community Health. With over 30 years of experience, Randall has been an integral part of our organizational growth.
Randall leads our human resources team, which includes payroll functions and professional services. He has integrated many initiatives, grown recruitment and retention, developed employee benefit plans, encouraged employee engagement, and has been responsible for reporting and compensation management. He has implemented programs to monitor, evaluate, and improve service quality.
Randall provides financial and operational accountability for professional service lines, including Radiology, Laboratory, Pathology, Respiratory, Sleep Lab, Rehabilitation Services, and Durable Medical Equipment.
Randall has dedicated time to serving in many professional and civic capacities, including serving on local and state boards.
Randall enjoys living in the Uintah Basin and thoroughly enjoys the outdoors – especially if hunting or gun dogs are involved. He finds joy in spending time with his family and making memories together.

Maigen Zobell serves as Chief Hospitality & Clinical Support Officer at Uintah Basin Healthcare. She graduated from Utah State University with a dual major in Business Information Technology and Marketing Education. With over 25 years of leadership experience (over 15 years in healthcare), Maigen’s passion for her work family, our patients, and our community is evident.
Maigen has implemented comprehensive programs to enhance the organization’s image and position within the marketplace, and more importantly, to improve the overall patient experience. She believes in genuinely connecting with others on a level that results in meaningful impact, and is honored to help with charitable funds that are close to her heart.
Maigen currently oversees Marketing/PR, Volunteer Services, Environmental Services, Dietary, Durable Medical Equipment, Rehabilitation Services (PT/OT/Gym), Sleep Medicine, and the future line of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
Maigen enjoys hiking, biking, graphic design, interior design, photography, baseball (go Yankees), golf, and traveling (especially Disney). Most of all, she treasures time with her family.

Roger Burton is Chief Quality Officer at Uintah Basin Healthcare. Roger began his career in nursing at UBH over 30 years ago. Roger received his nursing degree from Weber State University and BSN from the University of Southern Indiana. He was a volunteer EMT and Paramedic for over 25 years. He served as the manager of the Emergency Department and then joined the administrative team in 2009.
Roger is passionate about quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance at UBH. He wants every patient to feel safe and have trust in their care team.
Roger enjoys spending time with his wife, 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. He loves spending time outdoors and is an avid wildlife photographer.

Preston Marx serves as Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer at Uintah Basin Healthcare. He received his B.S. in Business and a Master’s Degree in Information Systems from Utah State University. Over the past two decades, he has grown within the organization using his pragmatic approach to leadership and innovation that has contributed to organizational growth and improved healthcare services.
Preston’s professional passion is to design programs and processes that improve lives; the right technology at the right time makes all of the difference. He has successfully led several key projects such as: Unified Patient Communication, EMR adoption / integration, cyber resilience and interoperability. Preston is actively involved in promoting Health IT on a state and national level. He is a member of the Utah Digital Health Services Commission and a member of the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS).
Preston is an avid outdoorsman and a sports junkie. His idea of serenity is fishing on pristine waters with family. He loves coaching youth sports and being involved in the community. The Uintah Basin is the ideal place to live to indulge in these and other hobbies. Preston and his wife Tami are the parents of five beautiful children. His family gives life purpose, direction, and joy.

Karl Breitenbach, MD serves as Chief Medical Officer at Uintah Basin Healthcare (Vernal Campus). He attended medical school at the University of Missouri, completing his residency with the University of Utah and McKay Dee hospital. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice. He offers a variety of medical services in complete family care including obstetrics.
Dr. Breitenbach enjoyed solo and group practices in Vernal, Utah from 1987-2019. He, along with his “Basin Clinic” physicians group partners committed to Uintah Basin Healthcare in October of 2019 and officially started seeing patients as UBH providers in January of 2020.
His personal interests include whitewater rafting, mountain biking, archery, hunting, fishing, photography, and backpacking. Dr. Breitenbach and his wife, Paula have four children – Ryan Merrell, Nikki Merrell, Makenzie Breitenbach and Kagan Breitenbach.

Jason J. Larson, MD has been with Uintah Basin Healthcare since 2003, and currently serves as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for our main campus. He attended medical school at Loyola University in Chicago (Stritch School of Medicine), completing his residency with the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
In addition to CMO, Dr. Larson serves as the Director of the Emergency Department at Uintah Basin Medical Center (UBMC), the EMS Director for Duchesne County EMS Services and Ute Indian Tribe EMS Services, and the Medical Director for Respiratory Services (UBMC). He has served multiple appointments as Chief of Staff and Board Member for UBH, and has served on the Utah State Trauma Committee and Utah State Medical Performance Improvement Committees as well.
He is a sports enthusiast and enjoys golf, the outdoors, water sports, skiing, anything with a motor (especially dirtbikes), woodworking and carpentry. Most of all, he loves making memories with family.

Aaron is from Elk Ridge, Utah and has lived in the Basin for the past 9 years with his wife Andrea and four children. He is the Director of Golf at Roosevelt City Golf Course as well as the Recreation Director for Roosevelt City. The Brown family loves the Uintah Basin and feels fortunate to live in such an amazing community.
Aaron graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan with a Business Marketing degree. He played on the Ferris State nationally ranked golf team and was director of internal affairs for the student government. He also served as President of the college of Business Students association.
Since living in the Basin, Aaron has served on the API commitee, Utah PGA tournament and awards committee, coached the Union Boys and Girls golf teams and currently is on the board of trustees at UBTech.
Bruce Arnold, MD

Dr. Arnold has been practicing Pathology since 1998 in a variety of settings, ranging from solo practice to major medical centers and specialty laboratories; from Staff Pathologist to Department Chief and Laboratory Medical Director. He has found great satisfaction in the practice of pathology and looks forward to many more years of enthusiastic activity in this specialty.
After completing his formal medical education and residency, Dr. Arnold continued his training through 13 years of military service in the United States Army, including Chief of the Department of Pathology and Area Laboratory Services at Wurzburg Army Hospital in Wurzburg, Germany. He then completed additional training in Nuclear Medicine and joined NuPath, PC in western Illinois, where he provided services in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Nuclear Medicine for seven years.
Dr. Arnold joined the Uintah Basin community as the Laboratory Medical Director for Uintah Basin Medical Center in July 2013. He welcomes the opportunity to talk with patients about their surgical pathology. Anyone that may have questions, or is simply curious, is invited to come to the Department of Pathology and talk with Dr. Arnold.
Dr. Arnold was born and raised in Price, Utah, where his parents still live. He and his wife, Annette, were married in 1985, and have one son and two daughters.

Tyler Rasmussen serves as the Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Strata Networks. His previous career experience includes serving as the Executive Director of the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Rasmussen has served in the past as Chairman of the Uintah Basin Healthcare Board of Trustees, Utah State University Uintah Basin Dean’s Council and Advisory Board Member, National Telecommunications Cooperative Association Marketing Committee, Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce Board President, Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Executive Committee Member, and Neola Community Park Board Member. Mr. Rasmussen has a Bachelors of Arts in International Business and a Masters of Business Administration from Utah State University.
