September 2026 – Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Mental Health is a top concern for the Uintah Basin. Reported “poor mental health days” and suicide rates in the Tri-County area are alarming compared to state and national averages. We can’t just sit back and watch the numbers rise. Key players in our community are connecting to make a difference.

In Utah, from 2021-2023, males had significantly higher suicide rates than females in every age group. (Age 35-44 being the highest; 49.3 per 100k pop)

For females, age 45-54 were the highest; 15.3 per 100k pop.

Note: According to CDCs disparities report, youth (age 10-24)  account for 15% of suicides with a rate of 11 per 100k pop. However, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for this age group (increasing 52.2% between 2000-2021).

Let’s hone our focus on mental health. It’s time to reach to those in need. It’s time to connect.
